Radim Schreiber
Artist’s Statement

“Aliens in the Grass”

When I look through the viewfinder of my camera, I see nature blossoming with beauty and wonder. As I close in on my subject matter, I feel as if I'm visiting another planet with completely different species, intelligent aliens with thousands of eyes, many legs, wings and super powers, yet I am still standing in the wet grass of a breezy dawn. Through this process I realize the precious value of life and infinite creative potential of nature, that is present in every single piece in the universe.

As an artist, I bring the treasures of this planet to human awareness for greater understanding and appreciation. I have chosen photography as my medium to capture the moment, the split second that exists only once in eternity. Photography allows me to create representation of nature with seemingly infinite detail, thus supporting and appreciation of unbounded possibilities in the viewer.

In the future, as my experience and the technology advances, I will continue to highlight those aspects of nature that lie hidden to human eyes and hopefully I will break new boundaries in revealing the secrets of nature.

Technology Used:

Canon EOS 10D (Digital SLR)
Canon 100mm F2.8 macro
Kenko Extension Tubes
Canon 50mm F1.8 (reversed)
Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro

Encad 880i inkjet printer
